The Central and Eastern European Travel Retail Association

 

The Central and Eastern European Travel Retail Association – CEETRA – is a regional industry association organizing companies involved in the duty-free and travel retail industry in the Central and Eastern European region.

CEETRA initially represents companies in Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Bulgaria involved in supplying and retailing goods to travelling consumers in all duty free and travel retail outlets throughout the Central and Eastern European region. Other countries may join at a later stage.

The association aim to protect, promote and facilitate the Region’s travel retail channel by providing the means to obtain the most favourable trading environment for the travel related commerce.

CEETRA is a member of The European Travel Retail Confederation – ETRC – which is the European wide body serving the industry and its members at the European level.

 

The objectives of the CEETRA are:

  • To enhance the representational coverage in the Central and Eastern European region by providing the resources to promote the industry with key stakeholders and advance the interest of the duty-free and travel retail industry

  • To strengthen the Regions representation in the European as well as the Global duty-free and travel retail organizations

  • To enhance networks by creating a communication junction for the industry in the Central and Eastern European Region

  • To provide a platform for more extensive industry initiatives difficult for individual companies to undertake e.g. market research

  • To offer coordination of the industry’s various events in the Central and Eastern European Region

 

The purpose of the Association

The purpose of the Association is to bring together enterprises in or supplying to the Central and Eastern European countries, and regardless whether domiciled within or outside the Region, that are involved in the travel retail industry (which also includes duty-free) that is in manufacturing, wholesaling or retailing of goods to travelers between two or more countries whether such trade is subject to taxes and/or duties or not.

The Association shall handle its members’ interests relating to the sales, whether subject to taxes and/or duties or not, ultimately made to travelers between the Central and Eastern European countries and other countries, both within or outside the EU.

The Association shall act both in relation to the general public and in relation to local and foreign authorities and shall represent the industry in the Central and Eastern European region, and on industry boards and committees of relevant industry organizations with related objectives.

The Association’s goal is to protect, promote and facilitate the Region’s travel retail channel by providing the means to obtain the most favorable trading environment for travel related commerce.

For the avoidance of doubt the Association is restricted to representation of its members’ interests and does not include promotion of the members’ profitability or coordination of their business activity.

 

The activities of the Association 

The activities of the Association aimed at achieving its goals include:

  • To enhance the representational coverage in the Central and Eastern European region by providing the resources to promote the industry with key stakeholders and advance the interests of the travel retail industry

  • To strengthen the Region’s representation in European and Global duty-free and travel retail organizations

  • To enhance cooperation by creating a communication platform  for the industry in the Central and Eastern European Region

  • To provide a platform for more extensive industry initiatives difficult for individual companies to undertake alone e.g. market research

  • To offer coordination of the industry’s various events in the Central and Eastern European Region

The Association initially represents companies involved in production and/or supply (including wholesale and retail) of goods to travelling consumers in all travel retail outlets throughout the Central and Eastern European region. In terms of countries, the initial focus is on Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Bulgaria.  This may be expanded at a later stage by a resolution of the Annual Members’ Meeting.

 

The Association is a non-profit organization and will collect membership fees just adequate for supporting the various activities and ensure sufficient stability for the long term operation of the Association.
